If you’re getting into mountain biking in Edmonton, one of the best things you can do is get connected with other like-minded people. There is so much fun to be had within this community!
There are a lot of great people, shops, and organizations doing really good work in this city, from building and maintaining trails to helping riders progress and find connections with each other.
This is our running list of places involved in the sweet mountain bike life here in Edmonton. We’ll keep updating it as we make new discoveries, and would appreciate you getting in touch to let us know what we are missing.
Bike shops in Edmonton

Cranky’s Bike Shop
Cranky’s mission is simple: helping riders get the most of their cycling experience. Their friendly staff will always help you find just what you’re looking for. And if you can’t make it into their physical store, their vast online offerings are just a few clicks away!
Hardcore Bikes
Hardcore Bikes opened in 1989 and has been offering hard-to-find specialty mountain bike parts and plenty of bike expertise ever since then. Their highly-capable mechanics deliver top-notch repairs and their down-to-earth local service is always on point. (Their newsletter is full of good stuff too!)
Mud, Sweat and Gears
What started as “Sherwood Bike Repair Ltd" over 16 years ago, Paul has grown into the multi-location Mud, Sweat and Gears we know today. With several stores, you’re never too far away from a place that has a huge range of bikes available, offers efficient repairs, and has a friendly team that are more than happy to take a deep dive talking bikes and components with you!
Revolution Cycle
Revolution Cycle is proud of its community focus: they consider themselves more than just a shop, and rather a gathering place for cycling enthusiasts. They have a no-pressure sales approach and really focus on your individual needs as a rider.
redbike
The friendly staff at redbike includes riders of all levels that are here to help you find the bike or gear that’s right for you. They offer a unique selection of bike brands that you won’t necessarily find in other stores in the city. Plus, they’re located in a historical building, right beside some amazing Edmonton restaurants, and seconds away from the trails!
United Sport & Cycle
United Sport & Cycle has grown from a small cycle shop to a 110,000 square foot space that now houses gear for over 30 sports, and they are still family-owned. They offer a wide selection and offer helpful guidance for riders shopping for new bikes, accessories, and service.
Vicious Cycle and Snow
Vicious Cycle and Snow has the same ownership as Mud, Sweat and Gears, so you can expect the same high-quality level of service and a wide range of bikes and gear. They’ve also opened Vicious Cycle Premium (formerly Pedalhead Bicycle Works) and as the name suggests, it offers premium road, gravel, MTB and E-MTB products.

Organizations and stewardship groups

Edmonton Mountain Bike Alliance (EMBA)
The Edmonton Mountain Bike Alliance (EMBA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to advocating for and improving mountain biking in the Edmonton area.
They work with the City of Edmonton and local partners to maintain and build singletrack trails, support trail stewardship, and help ensure a sustainable, world-class riding experience in the river valley.
If you’re curious about getting involved with EMBA, check out our post about the incredible work they’ve done behind the scenes getting a bike park built for this community.
River Valley Alliance
The River Valley Alliance is a not-for-profit organization made up of the six municipalities along the North Saskatchewan River: Devon, Parkland County, Edmonton, Strathcona County, Fort Saskatchewan, and Sturgeon County.
They work together to preserve, protect, and enhance the region’s river valley, while improving and connecting trail systems so more people can easily access and enjoy it.
A note from the team at GTRC
We’re all for more people riding bikes, feeling confident, and having a good time out there.
You don’t have to ride with us. You don’t have to shop at any one place. You don’t have to do it any certain way to be doing it “right.” Although… everyone would really appreciate it if you learned and followed all the proper trail etiquette in this guide!
Just get out there, meet good people, and enjoy it!
If you ever want a bit of coaching or a friendly group ride, you know where to find us.
